Last month the Rolls-Royce’s latest twin door coupe, Wraith, kicked off its India tour in order to find suitable buyers for the British luxury car owned by BMW. With a price tag of INR 4.6 crores, the car was presented in Mumbai, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad. Most recently the car rolled out in Kochi too. The Wraith, at 5269 mm long, 1947 mm wide and weighs 2435 kg filled car lovers with ecstasy.
The Rolls-Royce Wraith, a coupe version of the luxurious Ghost sedan, took inspiration from the 1938-made Wraith. Its name was borrowed from a cove in South of France where Sir Henry Royce and his engineering experts spent their winters.
The car whose name literally means ‘ghost’ attracts people who have never considered a Rolls Royce until now. Wraith seats four passengers, provides the most dynamic Rolls-Royce drive yet, but sacrifices nothing in comfort and craftsmanship – it is the ultimate gentleman’s gran turismo. Rolls Royce Wraith
Apart from luxury, the Wraith is all set to conquer the heights of power as well. The Wraith is powered by a twin-turbocharged, 6.6-liter, V12. Delivering 624 bhp with 800 Nm of torque, it powers from 0-100 kph in 4.6 seconds. It has a transmission of eight speed automatic gear box. GPS data and the navigation system is used to predict the road ahead.
Rolls Royce has declared that the Wraith is the car of the future since it includes the Satellite Aided Transmission that automatically chooses the appropriate gear on the eight speed transmission to deliver smooth power without any unnecessary gear changes. Voice activation commands come with a one-touch call button. Without manual input from a navigation menu, route assistance begins via a voice command.
No compromises have been made in making the Wraith’s interior a total luxury. The Rolls Royce Phantom flagship of luxury has been maintained by hand-craftsmanship without any machinery machinery assistance. An fascinating option is the Starlight headliner. A total of 1,340 tiny LED lamps are woven into the headliner material to resemble the stars in the night sky. According to Rolls-Royce, the Wraith’s interiors is found similar to that on ultra-luxury yachts especially with the use of open pore wood called Canadel Panelling. Spirit of Ecstasy, the famous hood ornament of the Rolls Royce, is all set to fly on the Wraith. The car was presented in Kochi by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Hyderabad chief executive officer K Venkatesh and general manager Hitesh Naik. The car is custom-made to personally suit its owner.
